Who We Are / About Us

ILLD is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the critical gaps in Pakistan’s social and educational landscape. We create a unique ecosystem where youth and seniors support each other, turning vulnerability into mutual strength.
By providing merit-based scholarships and structured mentorship, we transform social isolation into a unified engine for national growth.

Why ILLD (Gap)

After working for decades in the higher education industry and non-profit sectors, the founders realised that traditional systems often miss critical aspects while providing financial support, so we are determined to address the following major gaps through ILLD.

The Social Capital Gap and Directional Gap

For first-generation learners from underprivileged communities, education is the engine meant to break the cycle of poverty, but being the first to cross that line comes with an immense, invisible weight. These students carry the hopes of entire families who often place heavy expectations on them from the very start of their journey. Yet, despite this pressure, they are often left to navigate the professional world without a map.
While scholarships may cover tuition, they rarely bridge the gap to true career success. A degree from a lower to middle-tier institution often fails to open the doors these students were promised, leading to a deep sense of disillusionment after years of hard work.
ILLD steps into that gap. We believe that a lack of connections shouldn’t limit talent. By linking young talent to elite networks, industry insights, and the career and life guidance they’ve been missing, we ensure that their hard-earned education actually translates into the future they and their families have sacrificed so much to reach.

The Intergenerational Ecosystem

Our current social landscape is increasingly fragmented, treating different age groups in silos and effectively cutting off the natural flow of knowledge between generations. As society undergoes rapid digital transformation, many seasoned professionals and retirees feel socially invisible and isolated. Meanwhile, younger generations often miss out on the invaluable wisdom and “unwritten rules” of industry that only come from decades of experience.
The youth and the elderly currently exist in parallel worlds rather than a unified ecosystem. ILLD seeks to dismantle these artificial barriers by transitioning communities away from age segregation and toward an integrated social engine. Our model facilitates reciprocity where every age group functions as a vital, connected component of the whole—ensuring that the rich insights of the past fuel the youthful energy of the future.

A Sense of Social Responsibility

Scholarships alone do not instil a sense of responsibility. When aid is viewed as “free money,” it can create a psychological sense of being merely at the “receiving end”. At ILLD, we foster accountability by ensuring our scholars move from being beneficiaries to active contributors in their communities.

Philosophy:

Reciprocity over Charity: We believe in creating mutual value through shared contribution, ensuring that every individual—regardless of age or background—has something meaningful to offer to society.
Intergenerational Synergy: We reject age isolation; a thriving community is built by uniting its youngest and oldest members into a connected society.
Universal Social Capital: Access to mentorship and ethical role models should not be limited to a certain class or privilege, and should be universally available.
Enduring Potential: We believe human potential does not expire with age; we promote active, dignified ageing where seniors are valued as vital community assets.
Impact-Driven Transparency: We are committed to measurable change and absolute clarity in our operations.

Programs

At ILLD, scholarship, mentorship, and social responsibility are not separate programs
They are three pillars of a single, unified commitment to human development.

The Scholarship

Targeted financial aid for hardworking, ambitious students

ILLD identifies hardworking and ambitious students who are at risk of leaving higher education due to financial constraints. Our scholarship ensures that academic excellence is never stopped by limited resources.
Targeted Aid Financial assistance covers essential educational costs, ensuring that no deserving student has to choose between ambition and affordability.
Merit/Need-Based Selection Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate both academic strength and the resilience needed to become future leaders and profound professionals.
Student Selection Criteria
To be eligible for the ILLD Scholarship, candidates must meet the following four pillars:
Academic Merit — A consistent record of academic performance (minimum CGPA of 2.8 or equivalent).
Financial Need — Clear evidence that the student faces significant financial barriers to completing their degree.
Professional Ambition — A vision for their future and a genuine willingness to be guided by a senior professional.
Commitment to Service — A desire to participate in reverse mentoring and engage in social responsibility projects to help others.

The Mentorship

Industry veterans paired with every ILLD scholar

Once awarded a scholarship, students are immediately paired with an industry veteran from our network. This relationship goes beyond guidance — it is a structured, career-defining partnership.
The Matching Process We curate pairings based on the student’s specific field of study and the mentor’s career expertise, ensuring every connection is purposeful and relevant.
Career Navigators Retired and seasoned professionals serve as “Career Navigators,” teaching students the unwritten rules and hidden curriculum of the industry — knowledge that a degree alone cannot provide.
Monthly Sessions Structured one-to-one meetings focus on career planning, professional ethics, and networking — building the skills and confidence students need before they enter the workforce.

Social Responsibility

Giving back while growing forward

Development at ILLD is not only personal — it is communal. As part of their journey, students contribute their time to social responsibility projects, learning to serve the community even while they are still students themselves.
Reverse Mentoring Students help seniors navigate digital tools and offer fresh perspectives on modern life. This creates a two-way street of respect, where both generations learn from each other.
ILLD Community Projects Beyond reverse mentoring, students can participate in a range of social initiatives supported or offered by ILLD — from literacy drives and community outreach to skills workshops and local development efforts.onstrate both academic strength and the resilience needed to become future leaders and profound professionals.
